We have blogged here about the need for new public safety facilities. We feel that the Gray property is a huge step in the right direction and have complimented the PSBC for their indefatigable efforts to present a viable solution to Mendon’s infrastructure woes.
BUT…………
What is all this BS about a few ceiling tiles falling down in the fire station? We get statewide press for this story? Yeah right. The Chief should have quashed this incident before it ever got any legs in the media. IT IS A NON-STORY unless the Chief has no control (we have seen this before) over his department(s).
This is an embarrassment to the town. The Chief, Sharon Cutler and Lawney Tinio should have known better than to gush to the press. What the hell are they thinking?
In the old days when the whores of the media came sniffing around after they heard something juicy on the scanner Chief Grady would tell them to pack up their stuff and hit the road. They hated him. The way it should be.
Mendon doesn’t need it’s laundry aired on channel 5 so they can look for stains. Our elected officials and our highest paid employees should know that. Shame on all of them, they do not help their cause or the cause of public service in our community.

I agree 100% HG. Also did you hear the rumor of the Kimball Garage being for sale for 1.2 million. The price keeps on getting lower for a new? fire station.
Kimballs at 1.2 is not cheaper when all is said and done.
Yes we have heard the rumor about the Kimball building going on the market.
The poster who said it would not be cost effective (cheaper than Grey’s) at 1.2 million is correct.
Kimball could have sold that building to the town several years ago. He had no interest in selling at that time and chose to rent a portion of it to the Fire department instead.
Tossing this option into the mix now will just further confuse and already confused Board of Selectmen and frustrate the efforts of the PSBC to present a plan for the Grey property.
Our guess is that one of the failed buyers for the Grey property finds the Kimball building attractive at that price.
HG
I didn't see anyone gushing to the press. I saw questions asked and answered. and it was a slow news night.
Quite frankly that building in 1997 was in horrendous shape, and still hasn't been fixed. shame on everyone who won't let plans proceed. We're going on 15 years of studies and proposals with not one moment of action.
Okay folks, so still tons of inappropriate actions by our towns government and alot more than tiles being shoveled at the fire station alot of do's that were public don'ts not so long ago. And still the town sits and lets people who think they have power continue to make devasting decisions. What good is a new fire station if we don't have control of the people in it? If there was reliability in our leadership than one could take comfort and action for the much needed facilities. Until such time, I'm afraid the town of Mendon is bending its ear the other way, possibly the deaf way. Oh and question of the Month? Why is the ambulance always at Subway or the Video store, will they be the new proposed fire station. And, I can't sleep at my job, Can you?
